Critical Reflection
Through observing the presenting team’s
delivery, I feel that all the teams have provided the audience with a great
presentation.
Nonverbal Communication
Presenters have displayed good non-verbal
communication such as maintaining good eye contact with the audience despite it
being a large crowd. However, some of the presenters have the habit of pacing
back and forth as they speak which seem a little distracting, making it
difficult to follow what the speaker is presenting on. In addition, other team members
who are not presenting could perhaps be seated to prevent distracting the
audience as the focus would be shifted to them if they are fidgeting or engaging
in a conversation among themselves while their team members are presenting.
Verbal Communication
Good verbal communication is being portrayed
as presenters projected their voice despite it being stressful to conduct a
presentation in front of the whole cohort and presenting it in the lecture theater instead of the normal classrooms. Additionally, presenters have also demonstrated
good articulation of words, making it easy to follow the message that they are
trying to bring across.
As when someone is nervous, the
presenter would tend to speak at a faster space, however, most of the
presenters display good control of their verbal speed. The tone of voice used
was also engaging, with emphasis on important keywords, making the presentation
enjoyable despite having to be seated for long hours.
Audio visual
All teams have placed good efforts in
making their slides interesting by adding in graphics to illustrate their
points, making it clear to the point instead of filling their whole presentation
slides purely with words. These manage to capture my attention, making it less
boring. In addition, I feel that Ribena’s group has done a good job engaging
the audience by having us inputting what we feel could be done to improve their
video.
Conclusion
In
conclusion, I feel that the showcase was educational as I manage to gain some
skills on how to handle different interpersonal communication conflicts, which could
be applied, not only at a workplace but also in daily life. In addition, the
videos being showcased were also creative and interesting, with catchy acronyms,
such as thinking on your T.O.E.S and using S.O.L.V.E.R to solve your problems.
